Our Name:

The most important part of our name is Otjiwarongo. The idea was that the name would also show the origin of the club, as well as promote the destination Otjiwarongo. For the supporters of OFC, it makes it very easy to identify with this name, as the support will be from our town.

Background:

The OFC initially was only involved in youth football in the age groups U9 and U 13. In the last 2 years however it became apparent that there was a need to change the structure of the youth system. Therefore additional age groups where added to offer the youth of Otjiwarongo to play football in all age groups playing competitively. It was not logical to only keep the U9 and U13 teams, as the talent that was there couldn’t be developed further due to lack of teams.

In February 2009 Otjiwarongo FC decided to establish a senior league team. This now enables us to encourage the talented players to continue playing football as they now see that after U17 there is a chance for them. Our main concern always was, what will happen to the talent after U17. With the senior team we now have established, these upcoming “stars” can now continue developing themselves playing football at Otjiwarongo FC, as well as other clubs in the region.

We firmly believe that it is not only the responsibility of the Namibian Football Association (NFA) to develop youth players. Every listed club with the NFA should take responsibility and develop a youth system, which would benefit Namibian Football at a whole in the future. We at Otjiwarongo FC have seen this deficit in the youth structure and hope to set an excellent example for other clubs to follow.

 Our Core Values:
  • Discipline
  • Fair Play
  • Enjoyment at all levels for all football participants
  • Community and family orientated
  • Positive Coaching
  • Everyone plays
  • Multi-cultural
  • Professionalism
  • Youth development
  • Positive behaviour & ethics

Our Mission:

The Mission of OFC is to provide young football talents the opportunity to learn and play the game of football while developing skills, tactics and social experiences, which they can take with them on their journey through life. Our

Goals:

Social Responsibility:

At Otjiwarongo FC we feel that it is of utmost importance to educate the players in a number of social aspects. Current topics that have got priority are: HIV/Aids, Drug & Alcohol use, the importance of having a basic education and more. We believe by educating players and indirectly their families we can ensure a brighter future for the community at large.

On the field: It is our aim to help young talent to follow their dreams in becoming professional footballers in assisting them in the development of the game and giving them exposure to succeed in their dreams.

Furthermore we would like to establish the OFC as a respected and fair team in the Namibian Football Community.

Off the Field:

By having an “open books” approach to the administrative side of the OFC we intend to run the operation financially viable. If our administrative side of the OFC is in order it will enable us to concentrate on the goals on the field and succeed with what we intend.

For the Supporters:

It is intended to play an attractive style of Football to encourage the growth of support for the OFC. However winning is not the core principle of the OFC. It is far more important that everyone enjoys the game. Only a good looser can be a good winner!

Sponsors:

Financial stability is of utmost importance to run a balanced operation on and off the field. Otjiwarongo FC is therefore in pursuit of establishing long term relationships with their current and future sponsors to ensure stability within the club, but also look after the our social responsibility.
